El Puente along with other organizations created the Vamos Sol proposal, which seeks to decentralize Puerto Rico's electrical system, allowing consumers to become prosumers. That is, people who have a solar energy system (panels) on the roofs of their homes with storage (batteries) can provide excess electricity to Puerto Rico's electrical system. In this way, we not only consume energy, but we also produce it ourselves, it is cleaner and less expensive. This type of strategy not only works for clients in residential areas, it can also work in businesses, industrial areas, closed landfills and parking lots.
